Farm Fresh regains footing with win over Nxled

Farm Fresh needed a strong bounce-back after a loss that exposed how much work it still needs to do before the new season starts.

Tubu scored 16 points and Tubino added 12 as the Foxies swept Nxled, 25-23, 25-13, 25-22, on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

More than improving Farm Fresh to 1-1 in the PVL on Tour, the victory gave the Foxies the kind of performance they wanted after a tough loss to Galeries Tower in Batangas City on July 11.

“I’m really happy because Nxled has a strong, championship-caliber lineup, so we really prepared for them. We were also coming off a loss, and that became one of our motivations for this game,” Tubu said.

The reigning season MVP converted 15 of 30 attacks and added an ace. Ces Molina also finished with 16 points for Farm Fresh.

“The win was definitely a team effort. Coach always reminds us to communicate, and that’s what we showed today—teamwork and communication. Whenever we made mistakes, we just made sure to bounce back,” Tubino said.

“We wanted to fight back and win back because we worked really hard during our one-month break. Coach Koji’s training was tough, but we stayed composed and accepted whatever came our way. The most important thing was helping each other.”

That month-long break, however, did not mean everyone was resting.

Tubu and Molina were among the Farm Fresh players who suited up with ZUS Coffee for Strong Group Athletics, which won silver in the Formosa Invitational Tournament in Chinese Taipei.

The experience gave them valuable competition but also left Farm Fresh with some catching up to do when the Foxies regrouped.

“We played with ZUS Coffee in that tournament. So we weren’t completely in sync. I’d rather rest after the conference because I want to win this game for our team since we had a lot of things to catch up on and improve,” Tubu said.

“Preparation wasn’t easy. We had a lot of lapses in our previous game, so we went through each one and started again from the basics. Our coaches and staff were very patient with us, and we were also patient with each other. We worked hard to get this win. I’m really thankful and grateful for my teammates.” INQ
