Five Army personnel went missing after heavy rainfall triggered flash floods in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley district, PTI quoted officials as saying on Saturday. Additionally, four persons died after a landslide on a road construction site in Upper Subansiri district.
Both incidents took place on Friday night, the news agency quoted the State Emergency Operations Centre as saying.
In Dibang Valley district, seven Army personnel had gone missing after two shelters of the 5th Grenadier at the Pasu Pani Camp were washed away by a flash flood.
Two of them were later rescued
The missing personnel are Upendar, Kundan, Vinod, Aditya and Samunda, reported PTI.
Teams from the Army, Indo-Tibetan Police Force, the Arunachal Police, State Disaster Response Force and the General Reserve Engineer Force have been deployed to rescue them.
The landslide in Upper Subansiri district occurred at the Keojaring-Byaching road cutting site.
Those who died in the incident are Tadu Baki, Taji Rai, Markosh Basumatari and Babul Ali.
Personnel from Nacho Police Station, the fire services and the State Disaster Response Force have been deployed for the search and rescue operation.
