The Vice-Chancellor of Osun University (UNIOSUN), Odunayo Adebooye, has congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his re-election to a second term in office, praising the mandate and its democratic significance for Osun citizens across the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, on Sunday in Osogbo.

Adebooye said Adeleke’s victory strongly affirmed the confidence and trust reposed in his administration by the people of Osun, reflecting widespread support for his leadership and policies across the state.

He said the victory was a testament to the governor’s commitment to the development and well-being of the people, adding that voters had further endorsed his efforts to improve lives statewide.

He said Adeleke’s re-election reflected his good deeds in the state and the confidence people had in his leadership, adding, “Democracy and the people have once again won.”

“I commend the people of Osun for their participation in the democratic process, and functional education remains a potent instrument for empowering citizens and strengthening democratic values.

“Functional education is a potent weapon against oppression, intimidation and ignorance.”

He said that the principle remained essential to building informed citizens and sustaining democratic institutions across the country and beyond.

“We celebrate the people of Osun and Nigeria for allowing democracy and the people to win,” he said.

He added that the outcome clearly reflected citizens’ participation and democratic choice.

Optimism

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged Adeleke’s support for education and his commitment to developing the sector.

He emphasised that sustained investment would strengthen institutions and improve opportunities for students across Osun.

He expressed optimism that the governor’s second term would provide an opportunity to consolidate his achievements and deepen developmental programmes across the state, particularly in education, infrastructure, healthcare and empowerment initiatives.

Adebooye further expressed confidence that Adeleke’s continued leadership would strengthen the partnership between his administration and UNIOSUN, creating greater opportunities for the university to contribute to socio-economic transformation across Osun.

He, therefore, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, management, staff and students of UNIOSUN, wished the governor wisdom, good health and renewed strength in serving Osun citizens during his term.
