Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers on Sunday arrested Bapiraju, a Senior Section Engineer in the Office of the Chief Signal and Telecommunications Engineer-Projects, South Central Railway, Vijayawada, and a private person, Chandu, while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15 lakh from a person.

Acting on a complaint, the CBI registered a case against a few unknown public servants and representatives of a private company in the case.

The accused allegedly demanded a bribe for releasing bonus for the Automatic Block Signalling works allotted to two joint venture companies in the Indian Railways, the CBI officials said, adding that searches were being carried out in Visakhapatnam, Pithapuram, Vijayawada and Hyderabad. The arrested persons would be produced in the CBI court on Monday, they added.
