Four years on from the murder of Sam Rimmer, police are offering a £20,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction

Sam, 22, was with a group of friends when he was gunned down by four men on two electric bikes who fired a number of shots using a Skorpion sub-machine gun.

The group of friends were summoned from a house on Lavrock Bank, in Dingle, by a 'bike horn' before the shots were fired at around 11.40pm on August 16, 2022.

The 22-year-old was shot in the back by a bullet fired and despite the best efforts of officers and ambulance staff he was pronounced dead a short while later at hospital.

So far, 10 people have been arrested in relation to the murder of Sam, but no one has been charged.

Crimestoppers has recently announced they have extended a reward of up to £20,000 for information that leads to the conviction of anyone involved in the murder.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, said: 'Today marks four years since Sam was murdered and I can only imagine how difficult this occasion must be for his family and friends.

'I want to reassure them, and the wider community in Dingle, that we are still just as determined to find the people responsible as we were four years ago.

'As part of our investigation we have made a number of arrests and received a lot of information from the public. We just need the final piece of the puzzle.

'I'd like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who holds any information whatsoever to get in touch. It's not too late.

'We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family's agonising wait for answers.

''If anyone out there is keeping information to themselves, I ask you to consider what Sam's family are going through.'

The appeal from Crimestoppers is looking for answers to the following questions: Who was responsible - who fired the gun? The names of those on the bikes at the time of the shooting? What happened to the firearm that was used, i.e. its location?'
