Talisay resident caught with gun, bullets, faces illegal firearm raps
CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 31-year-old man will be facing illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition charges after an unlicensed gun and bullets were found inside his house over the weekend.
This was after the Cebu Provincial police officers served the Talisay City resident a search warrant at past 5 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, at his residence in Purok Malipayon, Sitio Quadra, Barangay Lagtang.

The search warrant was issued by the Executive Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Talisay City in connection with a violation of the Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The search in the Talisay resident’s house lasted an hour and a half and was conducted by the CPPO Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and the Talisay City police.
The operation yielded an unlicensed .38 caliber revolver and five bullets.
When asked why he had an unlicensed gun by the police, the suspect said that it was for his protection.
He did not elaborate on why he needed personal protection.
The search was conducted peacefully and orderly in the presence of the suspect and was witnessed by Barangay Lagtang officials, including a barangay kagawad and the chief tanod.
Police personnel also used two alternative recording devices in place of body-worn cameras during the operation.
After his arrest, the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and placed under temporary custody at the Talisay City Police Station custodial facility.
Talisay City Police said that charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were being readied against the suspect.
As of this posting, the suspect remains detained at the Talisay City Police Station detention cell.
