Justin Trudeau's son Xavier shared a cringey clip of his dad and girlfriend Katy Perry reacting to hearing his new single in a hardware store - as he promoted his latest music this weekend.

The 18-year-old son of the former Canadian prime minister is attempting to pursue a career in music and modelling and was using his famous connections for some new social media content.

In the clip Xavier posted about the reaction to his new single called Downtown which just happened to be playing as his dad was in a hardware store in Canada with Katy - who went public with their unexpected romance last year.

The clip begins with Katy zooming in on the store's speaker as Xavier pens: 'My new single DOWNTOWN reaction video'.

As the catchy tune plays his dad then comes into view as he dances down the store aisle waving around a giant plunger and wearing sunglasses.

Katy, 41, then appears at the end of the clip as she dances away while holding the camera and Xavier pens: 'Out now on all streaming platforms'.

Katy was dressed down in a pair of shades and white T-shirt as she put on an animated display dancing around.

Xavier is the eldest of three children that Justin Trudeau shares with his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire.

He has been making moves into the music and modelling industry in recent months and has said he wants to find success on his own merit.

'I did feel pressured,' he said of his family's fame in a recent interview with GQ.

'I think that's why I wanted to do something totally different and obviously change people's lives, but in my own way... Building a new name for myself and being my own man was a super important thing.'

It comes after last week Justin sent fans wild as he posted a loved-up snap with his girlfriend Katy.

The 54-year-old shared a montage of highlights over the past few weeks on Instagram on Friday.

Amongst the photos was a sweet picture with Katy. The couple beamed with happiness as they enjoyed a beer together.

The couple have been dating for just over a year after first sparking romance rumours when they were spotted having dinner together in Montreal in July last year.

About half a year into their romance, the couple took the next step and made their relationship Instagram official in December.

Fans wrote: 'You and Katy' and 'what a beautiful couple'.

Other photos included a catch-up with Michelle and Barack Obama, his daughter Ella-Grace's graduation and a family holiday.

He wrote: 'Grateful for the moments that made this summer so special, and for the people I got to share them with.'

Justin was previously married to Sophie for 18 years before they announced their separation in August 2023.

The politician and the retired television host have three children: Xavier, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12.

Earlier this summer, Justin and Katy made their red carpet debut at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival and attended the premiere of the concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.

The singer mentioned her relationship at the event, telling People: 'I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life.

'I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I'm a little bit like a rainbow kite.'

Katy was previously in a long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a five-year-old daughter, Daisy, for nine years before they called it quits mid-last year.

Orlando also has a 15-year-old son, Flynn, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Katy and Orlando – who amicably holidayed with Daisy and Flynn last summer – started dating in 2016, got engaged in 2019 but never tied the knot.

Amid news of the breakup last year, representatives for the former couple told the Daily Mail they had 'been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting'.

'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect,' said the insiders.

She was briefly married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
