SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The municipal government of Masinloc in this province placed the town under a state of calamity on Monday, Aug. 17. The Sangguniang Bayan approved Resolution No. 217-26 during a special session on Monday, citing the continuing rains brought by the southwest monsoon and successive weather disturbances affecting the province. The resolution said the continuous rains caused “severe flooding in several low-lying and flood-prone barangays,” as well as damage to local infrastructure and agriculture.
