The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Tata Sons Private Ltd, the holding company of the Tata Group, scheduled to be held in Mumbai on Tuesday (August 18, 2026) is likely to be adjourned due to lack of quorum.

Sir Ratan Tata Trusts (SRTT) the second largest shareholder in Tata Sons with holding of 23.56% is under regulatory ban from Maharashtra Charity Commissioner and thus unable to nominate it’s representative/s for the meeting. This is expected to result in lack of quorum, analysts said.

So technically though the meeting will be convened, as per procedure it will be adjourned not cancelled.

The AGM was to consider Tata Son’s FY26 financial statement, the dividend approved by the board and the continuation of N Chandrasekaran, the chairman as a Tata Sons director.

Mr Chandrasekaran last week expressed his desire not to continue as chairman after the end his tenure which is from February 2027. A day after that Sir Dorab Tata Trust (SDTT) accepted his resignation and initiated the process to look for his successor.

Tata Trusts collectively hold 66% stake in Tata Sons while the Shapoorji Pallonji Group holds about 18% and the rest by Tata Group companies, Tata family & other individual shareholders.
