Demanding celebrities are not confined to the stage, screen and social media. They make unusual – and sometimes sensational – demands in the skies too.

A-listers might expect stellar service, elite comfort and personalised additions on board, but the specifics can be truly outrageous – a far cry from the pre-flight pint and Pret sandwich that many ordinary holidaymakers expect.

From bizarre food requests to inconvenient in-flight demands, the list of wild celebrity requests on planes is seemingly endless.

Here, the Daily Mail reveals some of the most ridiculous in-flight demands made by celebrities the world over...

The original diva: Mariah Carey

Pop icon and well-known diva Mariah Carey's flight requests are bold

Widely considered the ultimate diva, pop music icon Mariah Carey has taken her dazzling vocal cords – and high expectations – with her on her many international journeys.

Most of the time, she takes private charter flights.

But she once paid £70,000 ($118,000) to book out an entire first-class cabin on a British Airways flight – just to ensure privacy, News24 reported.

Things don't change upon landing – in 2005, Mariah reportedly requested a London hotel roll out a red carpet lined with candles for her arrival late at night.

Madonna's fitness flights

Pop star Madonna sometimes flies under the radar - but at other times, she's the star of the show

There's nothing worse than a flight delay, especially if you're stuck on board.

But Madonna made the most of this experience back in 2010 – the queen of pop enraged fellow passengers by passing the time doing yoga on a delayed flight from New York to London Heathrow.

One fellow passenger said at the time: 'It was bad enough having to wait, but then she started doing her yoga in the aisles. After about an hour, a bus came along and took her and her party of about 15 off the plane. The rest of us all had to wait for another two hours.'

It's not the only health-conscious behaviour she's displayed on board.

Earlier this year, The Sun reported that the performer took her own private chef on board a British Airways flight, and served her sushi.

A source told the publication: 'Madonna is strict about her lifestyle and avoids processed foods.

'She has the luxury of taking her private chef when travelling. He knows exactly what she eats to ensure she is sufficiently nourished when travelling between time zones.'

Amanda Holden: Can I get some ice with that?

Glamorous Amanda Holden requests ice in her rose wine - but was disappointed every time she flew with Ryanair

Amanda Holden and her BFF Alan Carr have boarded many a flight together while filming their BBC TV shows including Amanda & Alan's Italian Job.

Naturally, she often enjoyed a drink on board.

But Alan has mocked his pal for her bougie tastes – as she was reportedly disappointed Ryanair flights did not provide ice for her to add to her glasses of rose whenever she flew with them.

Speaking on GK Barry's Saving Grace podcast last year, Alan said: 'When we did the first series, we flew with Ryanair and Amanda every time asking "can I have ice with my rose?".'

'I said, 'Love, there is no...' Every time, 'No, unless they go and scrape it off the wings, love. There's not going to be any ice on this Ryanair flight.' She thinks it's [restaurant chain] The Ivy with wings! I'm like 'Love, you're lucky!''

As for Alan, he usually enjoys an Aperol spritz on board.

Musical Megan Fox

Star Megan Fox listens to a very particular type of music while flying

Nervous flyers have plenty of tactics to deal with anxiety - but Megan Fox's tactic is rather unique.

During plane journeys, the actress listens to old-school Britney Spears music because 'that's not the soundtrack to my death,' she has explained.

She said previously: 'I would throw on certain music that I just knew I wasn't going to die to, which, for me that was Britney Spears, like the archives from when I was young. That's not the soundtrack to my death.'

WHAT ABOUT THE ROYALS?

Queen Elizabeth II's martini, mints and major demands

As one of the world's most famous travellers, Queen Elizabeth II had plenty of in-flight demands

Queen Elizabeth II had a number of specific requests and preferences while on board, ranging from the practical to the downright unusual.

She liked to enjoy a martini before a flight, and also told air stewards to make sure that a bowl of mints was placed beside her before take-off – and another in her dressing room.

She favoured Velamints, a sugar-free mint that was launched in the United States in 1977.

Flight attendants working on her flights were given a specific set of instructions on how to treat Queen Elizabeth II.

This included liaising with Her Majesty's dresser to ensure the Queen's bed was made up correctly, while she would also bring her own pillows.

Plus, former royal spokesman Dickie Arbiter said: 'The only thing the Queen requests to have wherever she is is Malvern water.

'She likes Malvern water, it's refreshing and they usually take lots of it with her.'

King Charles's environmental ask

King Charles III considers the environment in his approach to flying

King Charles has shown his commitment to the environment in more ways than one - and his flights are no exception.

The King requested that standard jet fuel be substituted for sustainable aviation fuel on official government and charter flights.

Tim Fauchon, chief executive of the British Helicopter Association (BHA), has praised the King for 'leading by example' in aviation.

Queen Camilla's fear of flying

Queen Camilla is not a huge fan of flights - so adapts her journeys around this

Queen Camilla is known to have a strong dislike to flying and turbulence - and this has affected her experience and requests on board.

Her itineraries have occasionally been adjusted as such.

One example was during the royal tour of Australia in 2018, when she came home ahead of her planned schedule.

A Clarence House spokesman said at the time: 'The Duchess does not like flying but I think she has to sometimes embrace that fear.'

Luxe: The Prince and Princess of Wales

The Prince and Princess of Wales have luxurious food tastes when travelling

It may not be their regular mode of transport, but when the Prince and Princess of Wales travel from Heathrow, they do have a favourite routine.

They enjoy the food inside the Windsor Suite, according to the Express.

The Windsor Suite is the most exclusive lounge at Heathrow, and is regularly used by other members of the Royal Family including Prince Harry.

It has also been used by high-profile figures including the Pope and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Guests are greeted by liveried doormen before being escorted to one of eight private lounges, where they are tended to by a private butler - part of a 96-strong team of staff.

They can peruse a menu from Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton, and enjoy the use of a personal shopper in the main Terminal 5 building.

Tinned pies for Princess Anne

Princess Anne is said to have enjoyed Fray Bentos tinned meat pies on flights

It's not a far cry from the sausage rolls many Britons enjoy on a flight - but Princess Anne's favourite plane food is reportedly meat pies by Fray Bentos.

Graham Laurie, King Charles's former pilot, told Hello!'s A Right Royal Podcast: 'We never left without what I call the bottom line of catering.

'Those wonderful flat tinned meat pies by Fray Bentos and we would take that, we would take tinned vegetables, tinned potatoes and the stewards would start up a gravy, add a few spices to it.

'And we'd serve steak and kidney pie or chicken and leek pie.'

Princess Anne was a particular fan.

He said: 'They used to love it. I think it was such a pleasant change from all the poncey first class food. She enjoyed it.

'It was unusual to serve it in an aircraft but nevertheless they used to enjoy it.'
