The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“Pro-Kremlin propaganda outlets are actively promoting the story of a young man from Donetsk who allegedly attends a university while simultaneously serving under a contract,” the statement said.

According to the CCD, propagandists emphasize that a special type of contract is available to such students and encourage other students to take part in the war.

The Center noted that such stories create the impression among young people that serving in the Russian army means easy money, status and social benefits, thereby romanticizing the war. Through such simplistic manipulation, the Kremlin is attempting to recruit as many young people as possible to offset its enormous losses in the war.

“The Kremlin is seeking not only to impose a Russian identity on residents of the temporarily occupied territories, but also to use this population as a resource to continue the war,” the CCD concluded.
