Person seriously hurt as car hits pedestrian in Lower Hutt

A person has been seriously injured when a car crashed into a pedestrian in Lower Hutt.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Riddiford Street and Knights Road about 9am on Tuesday.

Wellington Free Ambulance took the injured person to Hutt Hospital.

Police said the road was closed while emergency services were at the scene.
