Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand said in a review meeting on Thursday that 60 major transmission projects, with an investment of ₹5,092 crore, were under implementation across the State.

Upon completion, these projects would add 14,296 MVA of transmission capacity and 1,760 Circuit Kilometres (CKM) of lines, strengthening inter-regional grid connectivity and ensuring a more stable and reliable power supply across the State.

He directed the officials to take measures to ensure the timely completion of ongoing works, planned investments, future initiatives and critical transmission infrastructure within the stipulated timelines.

The development of a robust, reliable and modern power transmission network capable of meeting future requirements was on top of the government’s list of priorities in view of rapid industrial growth, expanding urbanisation, increasing agricultural power demand, and the growing integration of renewable energy, he noted.

Highlighting AP-Transco’s recent achievements, Mr. Vijayanand said the corporation had successfully completed 35 major transmission projects, including four 400 kV, 10 220 kV and 21 132 kV projects, which added 2,215 MVA of transmission capacity and 613 CKM lines.

As part of the AP-Transco’s long-term infrastructure development plan, officials said that 72 more transmission projects were currently in the planning stage and tenders proposed to be invited over the next three months. Twenty-four major transmission projects (400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV) being executed at a cost of ₹3,507 crore were expected to be commissioned over the next six months.

Mr. Vijayanand said the government accorded highest priority to strengthening A.P.’s power transmission system through advanced technologies, modern grid management practices and sustained investments, and commended AP-Transco engineers, officials and field staff for their dedication and significant contribution to expanding the transmission network.
