Axios reported that Congressional Democrats are planning to push for new resolutions in order to restrict US President Donald Trump's war powers, after he threatened to "bomb the shit" out of Oman.

"At this point we may just need to file war powers resolutions for the 192 other countries," congressman Ro Khanna told Axios.

US lawmaker Tim Kaine announced in a statement on Monday that he will introduce a resolution regarding Oman war powers in next month's session.

Kaine said that Washington has "a strong diplomatic relationship and a free trade agreement" with Muscat, expressing that Trump's threats on Monday serve the interests of "real adversaries" such as Russia and China.

He also said that he hopes that some of his Republican counterparts join with the Democrats to "check this blindly stumbling power-drunk President from inflicting more damage on the U.S. and the world".

Separately, he wrote in a post on X that the resolution aims to "stop Trump from taking us into yet another war".
