A 28-year-old tree surgeon from Huddersfield won over £18,000 on from a 40 pence spin as a normal Saturday turned into an “incredible” occasion at a local casino.
Ryan Guinan landed a jackpot of £18,542.31 from a 40p spin while playing slot game Mystery of the Lamp at Grosvenor Casino Huddersfield.
Having originally put £20 into the machine, Guinan eventually landed the “fantastic” win when he “only had £1 left in the machine”.
“At first, I didn’t process the win at all. I was a bit shocked, and I had to check with two other players in the casino that the figure was correct,” he said.
“As the jackpot dropped, I only had £1 left in the machine, meaning I only really had two spins left. So, to walk away with over 18 and a half grand is incredible.”
The 28-year-old plans to use the winnings to launch his own company, while also treating himself to a new motorbike, according to a press release from Grosvenor Casinos.
Speaking on the remarkable win, Mark Connolly, General Manager at Grosvenor Casino Huddersfield, said: “It’s always fantastic to see a local customer land such a big win, and moments like this create a great atmosphere in the casino. We are absolutely delighted for our winner, especially as he enjoying our upgraded Slots range, and hope others have success at our casino this summer and beyond.”
The big win comes months after an even more remarkable win not far away in Manchester, where a woman won over £1.5m off a £5 spin on online casino site Rialto in May.
