SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Han Seong-sook visited an apartment complex construction site in Incheon, west of Seoul, on Wednesday in line with her pledge to personally keep checking the progress in the government's housing supply plan unveiled last week.
The government's plan calls for supplying more than 230,000 additional homes in the Seoul metropolitan area by accelerating development on public land, lifting greenbelt restrictions and supporting private-sector projects. The plan came amid criticism the government focuses more on curbing demand than expanding supply.
"I will visit a site in person every week as much as possible to check on progress myself," Han said during the visit to the Gyeyang district in Incheon. "Whether the measure will succeed or not depends on implementation and how fast we can carry it out," she said, referring to the housing supply plan.
Han asked related agencies to use every available means to help construction projects break ground as early as possible.
"If there is anything necessary on the ground, please tell us about it and we will fix what we can fix immediately and improve what we can improve," she said, adding that quality construction is as much important as speedy construction.
