Haroon completes UCI internship
Pakistan’s only UCI Level-3 coach gained international high-performance and race-management experience in Switzerland
Pakistan’s only UCI Level-3 coach, Haroon General, has completed a one-month coaching internship at the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland, Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) said.
He worked with the UCI track high performance team, the UCI WCC women’s continental team and athletes from several countries during the programme.
The internship provided exposure to international coaching systems, athlete development, training methods and performance analysis, while also giving general experience of the day-to-day operations of a high-performance cycling centre.
He also served as a coach and assistant coach at several cycling events in Switzerland, including La Périgord-Ladies 2026, La Picto 10, Martigny-Mauvoisin and the Valais Cyclosportive.
Haroon said the experience had provided valuable insight into high-performance coaching and athlete development.
He said he hoped to apply the knowledge gained in Switzerland to help develop cycling in Pakistan and strengthen pathways for athletes and coaches.
“It was a great learning experience. Working with international teams and athletes at the UCI World Cycling Centre gave me valuable insight into high-performance coaching and athlete development. I hope to use this experience to contribute to the development of cycling in Pakistan and help build a stronger pathway for our athletes and coaches in the future.”
PCF president Syed Azhar Ali Shah thanked the UCI World Cycling Centre for providing the opportunity and its continued support for the development of cycling coaches and athletes.
