Newly appointed Bulgarian Ambassador to Ukraine Zlatin Krastev said this after presenting his letters of credence to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrinform reports, citing BTA.

"Bulgaria is ready for joint consultations to find ways to increase the volume of natural gas transit through Bulgaria to Ukraine," Krastev said.

According to the ambassador, the Bulgarian government is ready to work promptly on developing cooperation with Ukraine in the energy sector. He said Bulgaria is prepared to deepen bilateral political dialogue, expand economic cooperation, and continue joint work on specific projects of mutual interest.

Krastev was appointed Bulgaria's ambassador to Ukraine on November 19, 2025. He previously served as deputy defense minister and worked at Bulgaria's Delegation to NATO.

On August 18, Zelensky received letters of credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of Bulgaria, Estonia, India and Germany.
