Monaco have confirmed that Paul Pogba’s contract has been terminated, in a statement released on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old has been released by the Ligue 1 side following a series of injuries.

The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder has struggled to recapture his best form, since he finished serving a doping ban.

In the statement, Monaco explained that the objectives they had set for Pogba were “only partially achieved”.

They, however, paid tribute to Pogba’s “remarkable mindset, determination and unwavering high standards” and said even when injured, he had a positive influence on the other players by “sharing his experience and know-how” with the other players.

In that same statement, Pogba acknowledged that he had not “played as many matches” and thanked the “president, management, teammates, all the staff as well as all the supporters who believed.”
