The State government has allocated ₹5,561.81 crore to implement the five guarantee schemes in Kalaburagi district, vice-chairman of the State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority P.T. Parameshwar Naik said in Kalaburagi on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference after reviewing the progress of the schemes at the new Zilla Panchayat auditorium, Mr. Naik said that the State government is, after addressing minor technical issues, committed to ensuring that every eligible beneficiary receives the benefits.
A large-scale district-level workshop on the five guarantee schemes will be organised in Kalaburagi soon, he said.
Giving details of the expenditure, Mr. Naik said that ₹3,186.55 crore has been directly transferred to 5.97 lakh beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. Under Gruha Jyothi, ₹910.98 crore has been spent towards providing free electricity to more than 5.65 lakh consumers, he added.
Under the Shakti scheme, he said, ₹795.64 crore has been spent to provide free travel to women, while ₹508.72 crore has been allocated under the Anna Bhagya scheme towards the distribution of free rice and other foodgrains.
Under Yuva Nidhi, ₹160.41 crore has been directly provided to 32,943 registered unemployed youth, he said.
Stating that discrepancies have been noticed in some of the data presented during the review meeting, Mr. Naik took serious note of them.
He directed officials of Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited (GESCOM) and other departments concerned to immediately obtain accurate data and submit a revised report.
On difficulties reportedly being faced by migrants from other districts and States and tenants during the fresh survey under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, he said that a high-level meeting will be held under the leadership of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar immediately after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. An appropriate decision will be taken.
He said that taluk-level and hobli-level guarantee scheme committees will conduct door-to-door verification to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of the benefits. The survey will be completed by the end of September, he said.
Mr. Naik also said that ₹40 crore, including ₹2 crore in Kalaburagi district, belonging to deceased beneficiaries has been withdrawn from bank accounts and returned to the government account across the State.
The State government will not allow any scope for irregularities in the implementation of the schemes, he said.
Responding to concerns over the absence of bus services in some rural areas due to lack of roads, Mr. Naik said that roads will be developed in coordination with the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) and the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board to improve transport connectivity.
He said that Kalaburagi district has achieved the highest performance in the State by issuing bus passes to 1,85,485 students under the Shakti scheme.
District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority chairperson Chandrika Parameshwar, district-level vice-chairpersons Vijayakumar Kattimani, Somashekar Hiremath, Narasimhalu Kumbara, Nirmala Baragale and Suresh Tippashetty, besides district-level officials, were present.
