As we enter the final weeks of beta testing, Apple will likely release macOS 27 Golden Gate to the public next month. One of the biggest changes with this year’s update is the addition of an all-new Siri app for Mac users.

Siri app comes to Mac

When you update to macOS 27 later this year, you’ll see a new Siri app icon in your Mac’s dock. This marks the first time that Apple has released a dedicated Siri app for the Mac.

Siri AI is the flagship change for macOS 27 Golden Gate this year. Apple has rebuilt Siri from the ground up with an all-new architecture, with features including personal context understanding, world knowledge, on-screen awareness, in-app actions, and much more.

The Siri app is a key part of this new system. In the app, you can view all of your previous conversations with Siri or start a new one. The app also uses iCloud to sync your conversations across your Apple devices. For example, this means you can start a Siri interaction on your iPhone, then revisit it when you sit down at your Mac.

The Siri app on Mac has two different interface options. First, you can choose to view your conversations in a list-style view similar to Messages. You can also choose to use a grid-style view, where each of your conversations is a floating card.

In System Settings on your Mac, you can also manage how long the Siri app saves your conversations. You can choose between forever, 30 days, and one year. If you choose the latter two options, your conversations will be permanently deleted once they cross either threshold.

The System Settings app also lets you choose whether the Siri app opens to your recent conversations or to a new conversation by default. You can also adjust how many lines of text you see in the conversation preview, from zero lines to five lines.

The Siri app will be available on MacBook Neo (A18 Pro) and Mac models with M1 and later.

9to5Mac’s Take

While I think the app is relatively basic, I’m pleased that Apple decided to release a chatbot-style Siri app with macOS 27.

In an interview last year, Apple executives said the company’s AI strategy was to create an “experience that’s integrated into everything you do, not a bolt-on chatbot on the side.”

At the time, this clearly indicated Apple didn’t plan to release a Siri chatbot app. At WWDC this year, however, Apple explained that it determined a dedicated app was the best way for people to revisit their previous chats with Siri.

The Siri app serves its purpose nicely in macOS 27. Whether you’re using it to manage previous Siri interactions or start new ones, it’s great to have easy Siri access right in your Mac’s dock.

The question is whether Mac users will turn to the Siri app over competitors like Claude and ChatGPT. That ultimately depends on the results the Siri app generates compared with those other apps.

Personally, I’ve found the Siri app to be great for world knowledge and personal context questions. For more advanced queries, I’m still using Claude. That could change as Apple continues to improve Siri AI and Apple Intelligence.

Every day, important conversations happen in meetings, on calls, over coffee, and on the go. By the time you sit down at your desk, half the details are gone. And AI tools are only as smart as the context you feed them.

Your iPhone stops recording the moment a call comes in. Your Apple Watch can’t capture what’s happening across the table. Neither connects what was said today to a decision made three weeks ago.

Memoket Gem was built for exactly that gap. An 11g AI wearable that captures conversations with one press and connects them across time. When a topic comes up that you discussed weeks ago, Gem surfaces it automatically with a source link. Everything flows directly into ChatGPT, Claude, Slack, and Notion.

For Apple Watch users, Gem slots into a custom co-wear band alongside your Watch on the same wrist. Two devices, completely unobtrusive.

At 0.4 oz with 20 hours of battery and 153 languages supported, Gem disappears into your day while capturing everything that matters.
