This venue is one of Good Food’s 100 Essential Melbourne Cafes and Bakeries of 2026.

This cheerful sweet shop delivers a hit of dopamine before you’ve even reached the counter. Murals, colourful tiles and touches of gingham are as bright and playful as the display of cheesecakes, tarts, pastries and towering layer cakes. Some draw on owner Zahara Valibhoy’s Singaporean-Pakistani heritage, and all – as the name suggests – are made with real butter rather than buttery substitutes.

Must order: Battenberg cake – a checkerboard of vanilla and pandan sponge layered with raspberry jam and wrapped in marzipan.
