Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made this statement on the social media platform X, according to Ukrinform.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that last night the Russians carried out one of the most brutal attacks on Kyiv in history, “with ballistic missiles raining down on our capital one after another.” Russia also attacked the Chernihiv and Odesa regions.

According to the foreign minister, Putin aims to demonstrate complete impunity through such horrific war crimes.

“Each Russian ballistic missile is an act of barbarism. And each interceptor delivered to Ukraine is an act of humanity and saved human lives. We know partners who can deliver these interceptors, and we urge them once again to act without delay. Every delay is measured in human lives,” Sybiha emphasized.

He added that Ukraine is informing all states and international organizations about the consequences of this attack and is calling on them to immediately take concrete measures to increase pressure on Russia and strengthen support for our country.

The minister also called on the World Congress of Ukrainians and all Ukrainian organizations and communities in key capitals and around the world to take action and make their voices heard right now.

Sybiha noted that the Ukrainian side is calling for three critically important steps to protect human lives: to transfer or sell additional interceptors and air defense systems to Ukraine; to increase sanctions pressure to undermine Russia’s ability to produce instruments of terror; and to cooperate with Ukraine to develop anti-ballistic capabilities.

As reported by Ukrinform, the death toll in Kyiv from the Russian attack on August 20 has risen to 15, with another 39 people injured.
