The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday identified assets worth an estimated ₹6.87 crore, along with ₹4 lakh in cash, during searches linked to a disproportionate assets (DA) case against a Tahsildar working as a Divisional Administrative Officer at the Ibrahimpatnam RDO office.

The case was registered against Desani Srinivas Reddy by the ACB’s Rangareddy Range on allegations that he acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means. ACB officials conducted searches at his house, office and five other locations belonging to relatives, associates and others.

The properties identified during the searches included two residential flats at Karmanghat, including one semi-finished flat, valued at ₹2.63 crore, a G+3 penthouse spread over 233 sq. yards at Karmanghat in Saroornagar, valued at ₹1.61 crore, 10 acres and eight guntas of agricultural land at Nallavelly village in Yacharam mandal, valued at ₹25.50 lakh, and eight open plots in various parts of the city and its outskirts valued at ₹62.84 lakh.

The agency also found that Mr. Srinivas Reddy had invested ₹86 lakh as his share in Narendra Bar and Restaurant at Balapur in partnership with others. The ACB said the market value of the properties was expected to be higher than their official value.

Other assets identified included ₹4 lakh in cash, bank balances of ₹8.60 lakh, 680 grams of gold ornaments valued at around ₹5.85 lakh, three four-wheelers and two two-wheelers valued at approximately ₹59 lakh, and household articles and electronic gadgets worth ₹11 lakh.

The officer had also availed himself of a gold loan by pledging 46 tolas of gold with a bank. Further verification is underway to identify any additional assets.

The ACB said a disproportionate assets case had also been registered against Mr. Srinivas Reddy on December 14, 2009, when he was working as a Mandal Revenue Inspector in the office of the Tahsildar, Maheshwaram mandal.

He will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Hyderabad for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
