As many as 46 parks in Nellore are undergoing modernisation as part of a initiative proposed by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana to provide lung spaces and relaxing zones to citizens, in addition to play areas for children.
The Minister mentioned about the modernisation of the 46 parks being undertaken at a cost of ₹13.5 crore during the recent Independence Day speech, of which 33 have already been completed.
According to the master plan devised by Mr. Narayana for his constituency under the ‘Arogya Nellore – Aahlada Nellore’ concept, the city’s ‘smart parks’ are being equipped with open gymnasiums, community halls and play area. The play area is exclusively developed for children, while the community halls will cater to the elderly citizens, where they can host spiritual orations or take up group bhajan activities.
The initiative is meant to be replicated in the 46 designated parks spread across the city’s 25 municipal corporation divisions. Some of the parks are also designed to include water fountains, walking tracks, colourful wall art, night lighting, greenery and landscaping.
