Madurai District Collector Nishant Krishna, Commissioner of Police S. Rajendran and Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Thursday inspected the arrangements being made for the consecration of Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai.
The Collector, along with officials, inspected the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple premises and issued instructions regarding the arrangements for the consecration ceremony, scheduled for September 17.
The Collector instructed officials of various government departments to diligently perform the tasks assigned to them to ensure that the event was conducted safely. Adequate security arrangements should be made and access routes for devotees and dignitaries should be streamlined, he said.
There should be an uninterrupted drinking water supply and proper sanitation facilities. Additional footwear storage facilities should be set up for devotees. Proper parking arrangements should be made to regulate vehicles. Safety barriers should be installed around transformers as a precautionary measure. Defective streetlights should be repaired and new streetlights installed wherever necessary. Damaged roads near the temple premises should also be repaired, the Collector said.
He instructed officials to ensure that adequate garbage bins were placed at strategic locations and garbage removed promptly using Corporation vehicles to maintain cleanliness. LED screens should be installed at strategic locations to enable devotees to view the ceremony, he said.
The Collector instructed officials to coordinate with one another and make proper arrangements to ensure that devotees could worship safely, without hindrance and with a sense of fulfilment.
Earlier, a review meeting presided over by the Collector was held on Tuesday in connection with preparations for the consecration ceremony of the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple.
