The magnitude 6.6 quake hit central Peru and it occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles), the German Research Center for Geosciences said.

The United States Geological Survey listed the quake’s strength as a magnitude 6.7.

The latest quake comes after another earthquake that struck Colombia last week, killing at least 314 people, with another 262 still missing, President Abelardo De La Espriella said on Wednesday.

And in late June, Venezuela was hit by twin 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude quakes, which led to a national death toll currently standing at 6,300 people.
