It took a while, but Trekkies are finally being served by LEGO. The block-building company has announced the latest in its (admittedly still tiny) Star Trek lineup. LEGO Icons Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Bridge is set to release September 1. It costs $199.99, and you can preorder it now exclusively at the LEGO Store.

LEGO Icons - Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Bridge

For those unfamiliar with the series’ alphanumeric ship designations, this is the bridge from Star Trek: The Original Series. To that end, it also comes with eight minifigures of characters who work on the bridge, including Captain Kirk, Spock, and more (see the full list below).

The set includes both the bridge and the transporter room, which is a smart addition. The bridge looks just like it does in the show, with all the controls and displays, including a Klingon warrior shown on the big screen at the front. It’s all done in orange and gray, with splashes of color throughout. It looks great. It’s also modular, so you can move the rooms around according to how you’d like to display it.

You build several interactive features as well. You can rock the captain’s chair “to simulate space turbulence” and turn a dial to “beam” minifigures from the transport pads. You can also open and close the turbo lift doors.

Minfigures Included

  • James T. Kirk
  • Spock
  • Nyota Uhura
  • Hikaru Sulu
  • Leonard McCoy
  • Pavel Chekov
  • Christine Chapel
  • Montgomery Scott

Each of the included minifigures is listed above. It also comes with four tribbles, as well as character accessories, like Spock’s harp.

The only other LEGO Star Trek set is The Next Generation’s U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, which we built recently (and adored). Let’s hope this upcoming set signals that this is just the beginning of the partnership. Maybe it’ll be like the partnership between LEGO and The Lord of the Rings, which has gotten roughly one set per year, and most of them are quite spectacular.
