The trailer for the upcoming Tamil rom-com, Hi, starring Kavin and Nayanthara, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (August 20). Also produced by Nayanthara, along with her filmmaker husband Vignesh Shivan, the film is set to release in theatres on August 28. Notably, the film clashes at the box office with yet another Nayanthara starrer, the magnum opus Toxic, which is set to release on August 26.

The trailer of Hi begins with Mayilsamy’s (Kavin) father (played by the late, legendary Bhagyaraj) telling his son that men’s lives fall into three categories: falling in love and getting married; getting married and then falling in love; and neither falling in love nor getting married. We then see shots of Mayil attempting to kill himself because a girl rejected him. When his mother (Radikaa Sarathkumar) asks who she is, Nayanthara’s Devayani enters the frame.

The rest of the trailer promises a fun ride that follows how Mayil woos Devayani after they enter a marital relationship due to their circumstances.

Directed by acclaimed lyricist Vishnu Edavan in his directorial debut, Hi also stars Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrudha Srinivasan, Aadhithya Kadhir, Kureshi, Fepsi Vijayan, and Renji Panicker in pivotal roles.

With music scored by Jen Martin, the film has cinematography by Rajesh Shukla and editing by Philomin Raj. The film is produced by Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara, and SS Lalit Kumar under their Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studios banners.
