In a proactive move to support the working class, Yadgir Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve personally reached out to daily wage labourers on Friday to raise awareness regarding the revised benefits under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act.
Mr. Pandve, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat, following the transfer of the earlier CEO, Lavish Ordia, visited Shastri Chowk in Yadgir city early Friday morning during his city rounds. The area typically sees a number of workers gathering each morning in search of daily employment.
Observing the crowd of job seekers, the Deputy Commissioner approached the labourers to explain the enhanced features of the rural employment programme and urged them to stay in their villages rather than migrate to urban centres for work.
”Every enrolled family is guaranteed 125 days of employment per year at a revised daily wage of ₹382. The programme covers various work, including lake development, water and soil conservation, plantation drives, and the construction of farm ponds (krishi hondas), as well as livestock and poultry sheds,” Mr. Pandve told the gathering. “You do not need to come to the city looking for work when these opportunities are available in your local areas.”
Highlighting the social impact, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised that securing steady local employment helps families maintain stability, ensures better education for their children, and strengthens overall financial security.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the accompanying officers to organise extensive awareness campaigns across the district to ensure that rural labourers are fully informed of their rights and job opportunities under the updated Act.
