To further strengthen medical infrastructure in the State, tenders have been invited for 12 projects with an estimated cost of ₹221.67 crore, according to Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav.

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Satya Kumar said these projects include construction of buildings required for AYUSH medical services and medical education, as well as additional facilities in the government allopathic hospitals. Of the 12 projects, 10 were related to the AYUSH Department and two to the Allopathic Medical Department, he said.

Elaborating further, he said under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals would be constructed at six locations - Tekkali in Srikakulam district (₹9.98 crore), Rampachodavaram in Polavaram district (₹10.57 crore), Nandigama in NTR district (₹10.52 crore), Tenali in Guntur district (₹10.50 crore), Giddalur in Markapuram district ( ₹10.58 crore), and Tirupati district (₹9.99 crore).

The Minister said a Government Unani Medical College would be established at Proddatur in Kadapa district, with an estimated construction cost of ₹49 crore. Similarly, a Government Ayurveda Medical College would be established at Dharmavaram in Sri Sathya Sai district at an estimated cost of ₹49 crore, he added.

On the VIMS campus in Visakhapatnam, the existing Government Naturopathy and Yoga College would have a first floor constructed above the existing ground floor at an estimated cost of ₹9.37 crore. On the same campus, additional construction would be carried out at the 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospital, he informed. A third floor would be constructed above the existing second floor, along with facilities required for the Clinical Department of the college. The estimated cost of the project was ₹3.04 crore, he said.

Mr. Satya Kumar said the 50-bed Community Health Centre at Chintur would be upgraded into a 100-bed regional hospital, at an estimated cost of ₹21.99 crore and a new Out-Patient Department (OPD) building would be constructed at Kakinada Government General Hospital (GGH), at an estimated cost of ₹27.13 crore.

The Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) had initiated the tender process through e-procurement, the Minister said.
