FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki has suggested the studio could return to making single-player games after Elden Ring: Nightreign and The Duskbloods.

Many fans were surprised when FromSoftware announced its PvPvE action game, The Duskbloods, so soon after releasing its multiplayer, roguelike Elden Ring spin-off, Nightreign.

However, according to game director Miyazaki, who also helmed Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls, releasing two multiplayer games back-to-back wasn't intentional.

"It's funny because there was never really any big plan that these two games would both release next to each other," Miyazaki told IGN, explaining that since Nightreign was led by a different director, Junya Ishizaki, both ideas "just coincided with being multiplayer games."

"It's not necessarily some big reveal saying that this is the direction we plan to go moving forward," Miyazaki continued. "We still have a heavy focus on single-player content as well. This is just something that happened to work out the way it did."

The director then suggested the studio could dive back into making single-player games after The Duskbloods arrives, saying: "But it's like, the more you work on something multiplayer for a long time, if anything, it scratches that itch only to want to make something single-player again."

The studio's last single-player experience was Elden Ring, which launched in 2022, followed by the multiplayer spin-off, Nighreign, in 2025.
