According to Ukrinform, the Ministry of Health reported this on its website.

“As of August 2026, 557,803 people in different regions of Ukraine have undergone the Health Screening 40+. Most participants had no health complaints at the time of their visit. However, the examination results showed that a significant proportion of them already had risk factors or medical conditions they had previously been unaware of,” the ministry said.

According to the Ministry of Health, an analysis of the screening results showed that 71.8% of participants had elevated cholesterol levels. This is one of the key risk factors for cardiovascular disease and can remain without noticeable symptoms for a long time.

Thanks to the screening, more than 30,000 people learned for the first time that they had cardiovascular disease.

In addition, about 73% of participants were found to be at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Nearly 7,000 people were diagnosed with the condition for the first time during the examinations.

At the same time, every third participant in the program was found to have elevated blood pressure. Without proper control, high blood pressure significantly increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular complications.

The ministry stressed that detecting elevated indicators or risk factors does not always mean a final diagnosis. However, it is an important signal for further examinations, consultation with a doctor, and the timely start of treatment.

The national Health Screening 40+ program was created to allow people to check their health in advance, identify potential risks, and receive personalized recommendations on what to do next. The comprehensive screening can be completed free of charge at a convenient healthcare facility in a single visit.

The service is currently available at more than 2,500 state-run, municipal, and private healthcare facilities across Ukraine. Participants can choose a facility regardless of their place of residence or registration.

As reported, the Ministry of Health has updated the procedure for participating in the national Health Screening 40+ program. Ukrainians aged 40 and over can now apply to participate at any time convenient for them, without having to wait 30 days after their birthday.
