Cheryl is reportedly set for a huge TV comeback as a coach on the new series of The Voice UK.

The Girls Aloud star and former X Factor judge, 43, has not been on primetime TV in six years, with her last TV outing seeing her as a dance captain on BBC's The Greatest Dancer back in 2020.

However, it is now said that she's been in talks with show bosses 'for months', with filming for the new series kicking off on September 11 in Manchester.

A source told The Sun: 'Every year producers ask Cheryl to go on the show, and it’s a polite ‘no’ as the timing has never quite been right.

'This year it’s different. She feels ready to re-enter the spotlight and talks are now in the final stages.'

The insider continued: 'Things could come crashing down but with three weeks to go until filming kicks off, the production team is working on the assumption she will be doing it. It helps that long-term friend Will.i.am will be beside her on the panel.'

The publication notes that negotiations are so far along that they've reached the stage of discussing Cheryl's hair and makeup budget for the show.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives of Cheryl and The Voice UK for comment.

If Cheryl does join the ITV show, it would add to the huge shake-up for the new series amid reports that Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon are set to replace departing host Emma Willis.

It comes weeks after it was said that Cheryl was plotting another major career move, with insiders revealing the singer is in talks for a documentary about her life.

The star has largely kept out of the spotlight since the tragic death of her nine-year-old son Bear's father, Liam Payne, two years ago.

She also hit pause on her music career after welcoming Bear in 2017, choosing to focus on motherhood and TV work, and only returned to the stage in 2024 for the Girls Aloud reunion tour, in memory of her late bandmate Sarah Harding.

But sources close to Cheryl have revealed she is considering signing up for a major documentary focusing on her career successes, beginning with Popstars: The Rivals.

The film will also give rare insight into her love life, including her high-profile marriages to footballer Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, alongside her relationship with the One Direction star.

A source has told The Sun: 'Cheryl is incredibly picky about what she chooses to do these days and spends a lot of time on motherhood, but she feels like she has a story to tell.'

The insider added that no specific streamer has been attached to the project yet, but it is likely to prompt a bidding war between the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple.

Cheryl 'would also have creative control over the project', says the source, following her regrets over her 2012 documentary Access All Areas, which followed her first solo arena tour.

Speaking about the film, Cheryl explained how a friend filmed her 'so that I would not feel like I had a camera crew in my way and at times forgot myself'.

'I have since regretted this decision. The number of times I cringed watching it.'

While Cheryl hasn't released any new music in years, her accounts have been hacked twice in 2026, with 'new music' uploaded to the star's social media accounts.

The Fight For This Love singer last released a track in 2019, but in June fans noticed that the star's YouTube account had three new additions in the 'Releases' tab.

The new albums were titled Taking Care, Inner Peace and I Miss Who I Was, and featured alongside Cheryl's legitimate hit records.

In January, Cheryl's Spotify was also hacked after a 'new' song claiming to be performed by her appeared on the official artist page.
