New console gameplay from developer Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed The Blood of Dawnwalker won't offer a 60fps mode on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S when it launches next month
Two graphics modes are planned across both consoles: a Quality Mode targeting 30fps at dynamic 4K, and a Balanced Mode targeting 40fps at dynamic 4K.
PS5 Pro will hit the same frame rates and resolution, but with what's being described as enhanced visual quality across both modes.
The absence of a 60fps option, even on higher-end hardware, has left some fans hoping for a post-launch performance patch, with others saying they'd have preferred a lower-resolution 60fps mode over a 4K cap at 40fps.
"60 fps on Pro? Cmon guys," commented one on YouTube. Another said: "It’s 2026, 60 fps is the bare minimum at this point". Some fans believe a 60fps patch has been confirmed, but we're struggling to find confirmation – we'll update if/when we hear more.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is directed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, previously game director on The Witcher 3 and head of production and secondary game director on Cyberpunk 2077.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is due 3rd September. We played four hours of it recently and Bertie was enormously encouraged by it. He thought "the combat had depth and that the game's big ideas around sandbox freedom and time being limited worked really well. It's already one of the more interesting RPGs of recent years; potentially it's another breakout success".
