The Telangana Rising delegation, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had a fruitful meeting with academics and representatives of the University of Cambridge in the UK to explore opportunities for collaboration in education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

In another meeting with the University of London, its representatives informed the Chief Minister that it was working towards establishing a campus in Hyderabad. The meeting was held at the university’s historic Senate House in London. The University of London team included Kavitha Reddi, Ruth Kattumuri (LSE), Paul Madden, Funmi Olonifakin, Sky Zheng, and Keith Harrison.

The delegation, comprising IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Chief Minister’s Adviser and ex-officio Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, discussed ways of building a strategic partnership between Telangana and the globally-renowned universities.

Mr. Reddy invited Cambridge to partner with the State government in its efforts to transform Hyderabad into a global knowledge and innovation hub. Professor Jaideep Prabhu, Professor of Marketing at Cambridge Judge Business School, and holder of the Government of India-sponsored chair, Professor Venkat Sireesh Gandikota of the Judge Business School, and the Co-Chair of Frugal AI, expressed interest in working with Telangana. They responded positively to the opportunities available in the State, according to the delegation.

The discussions focused on conducting educational programmes in Hyderabad, undertaking joint research projects and developing mechanisms to support young entrepreneurs. The two sides also agreed on the need to work out a concrete action plan for collaboration in incubation and the development of start-ups.

The proposed partnership is expected to open new avenues for Telangana to collaborate with the University of Cambridge in education, research and innovation. The engagement is also expected to strengthen the Telangana Rising vision of positioning Hyderabad as an international centre for knowledge, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
