Comedian Samay Raina is gradually making a comeback following the controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent. His recent stand-up special, Samay Raina – Still Alive, has been well received and garnered over 46 million views within six days. He has also indicated plans to collaborate again with YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, whose joke triggered the initial controversy.

In his Still Alive special, Samay addressed the controversy, revealing that he had edited out many of Ranveer’s inappropriate comments from the episode. However, one particular joke remained and led to widespread criticism. Samay noted that Ranveer repeated the parent joke eight times during the show. Later, Ranveer appeared to respond indirectly to Samay by saying, “Kaun Samay?” when asked about him by a paparazzo.

In a recent video shared by celebrity photographer Shailesh Pandey, when asked about Raina, he said, “Samay kaun Samay? Kya Samay? (Samay? Who Samay? What Samay?) It’s our time, my time is now.”

Despite the past issues, Samay has expressed openness to working with Ranveer again. During a recent Instagram Ask Me Anything session, he confirmed they would collaborate soon and shared that India’s Got Latent will have a second season. He mentioned he is currently taking a break and will begin planning after this month.

When asked to “break the internet again,” Samay hinted at a special release on May 3. He also shared that he has started writing his next show, having prepared about 40 minutes of material, with a trial performance scheduled in Amsterdam.

Samay expressed satisfaction with the positive response to Still Alive, stating that it has broken the record for the most liked comedy special on YouTube globally and is on track to become the most viewed YouTube comedy special worldwide.

The India’s Got Latent controversy began when Ranveer made a joke during the show that many found inappropriate. He asked a contestant whether they would prefer to watch their parents have sex for the rest of their lives or join in once to make it stop. A clip of this exchange went viral, leading to widespread condemnation and legal action against Ranveer, Samay, and other panellists for allegedly promoting obscenity.
