Polish Deputy Minister of National Defence Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka stated this during a visit to Washington, Ukrinform reports, citing PAP.

According to Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, she presented the proposal during meetings with officials from the Pentagon and the U.S. Department of State.

Srokwiak-Czarnecka said that the proposal Poland had put forward addressed certain concerns of the U.S. side. She added that Poland had proposed trilateral cooperation with the United States and Ukraine to ensure that production would take place in a safe location.

She explained that the initiative responds to comments made by the U.S. President Donald Trump during the NATO summit, where he said his administration was prepared to consider producing Patriot system components in cooperation with Ukraine.

According to the deputy minister, Patriot missiles are among the world's most sought-after weapons systems, and Poland hopes to participate in their joint production.

During the talks, Poland also presented arguments for establishing a regional Patriot maintenance and service center in Poland. Sobkowiak-Czarnecka noted that U.S. officials view Poland's growing defense industry and its strategic location on NATO's eastern flank positively.

Another topic of discussion was expanding the U.S. military presence in Poland. She said that the United States has already created a special working group to prepare the project, while a similar team is operating within Poland's Ministry of National Defence.

She also expressed hope that, within the coming weeks, an agreement would be signed on a new $4 billion U.S. credit line for Poland under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program to purchase American weapons.

Sobkowiak-Czarnecka emphasized that the European SAFE defense financing mechanism does not prevent the purchase of American military equipment and that both instruments can complement each other in strengthening Poland's defense capabilities and those of NATO's eastern flank.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with a Raytheon delegation led by Vice President Joseph DeAntona to discuss joint production of Patriot missile interceptors.

Earlier reports also stated that U.S. President Donald Trump said before meeting President Zelensky in Ankara that the U.S. administration was preparing to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles.

President Zelensky has expressed hope that Ukraine will receive licenses to produce Patriot missiles by the end of 2026.
