Man arrested in Parañaque with P1.4-M shabu, kush

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested in Parañaque City early Friday morning, July 24, after police allegedly found more than P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu and marijuana during a buy-bust operation, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.

Authorities identified the suspect only by the alias “Michael,” a 30-year-old male individual, according to the SPD in a statement.

It detailed that an undercover operative purchased suspected shabu from the suspect at a parking lot in Doña Soledad, Barangay Don Bosco before members of the Parañaque City Police Station’s Station Drug Enforcement Unit identified themselves and arrested him.

“An undercover police operative successfully purchased suspected shabu from the suspect, prompting the arresting team to immediately identify themselves and effect his arrest,” the SPD explained.

Authorities noted they recovered about 210 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1.428 million and 30 grams of suspected marijuana kush worth P45,000. Also seized were the marked buy-bust money, boodle money, a sling bag, a cellphone and other pieces of evidence.

The suspect was taken into the custody of the Parañaque City Police Station, awaiting charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In the statement, SPD director Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco said the operation dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug trade.

“The seizure of more than P1.4 million worth of suspected illegal drugs is a major setback to the illegal drug trade.
