By the time nominations for the 2027 Grammys are announced later this year, it will have been nearly four years since Harry Styles came out on top in the biggest category of them all. Harry’s House won both Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, though “As It Was,” the blockbuster featured on the project, lost all four prizes for which it was nominated at the same ceremony.

Styles took his time touring behind the album and enjoying its enormous commercial and critical success before finally returning in 2026. His newest full-length, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally., immediately became another smash. The collection pushed the former One Direction star in a new direction, moving him away from the straightforward pop and rock leanings of his earlier solo work and into a more electronic space.

Where Styles and his team submit the album and its singles for Grammy consideration remains to be seen. He will likely make a play for another pop trophy, though dance and electronic fields may also be possibilities for the singer. If he nabs one more Best Pop Solo Performance nomination, Styles will move into extremely rare company among men.

Harry Styles Could Return to Best Pop Solo Performance

Styles stands a strong chance of being nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance with one of the songs featured on Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. The category honors individual pop recordings, and either “Aperture” or “American Girls” – the first two singles from the set – could fit comfortably in the race.

Those tracks became the biggest hits from Styles’s latest album, so they will almost certainly receive all of the attention during his awards campaign. Whether one is pushed in pop and the other is submitted in a dance or electronic category may depend on what his team decides, and how Recording Academy members organize his submissions.

Harry Styles Has Already Earned a Pair of Nods

Styles has competed for Best Pop Solo Performance twice. “Watermelon Sugar” earned him the honor in 2021, his first year as a Grammy nominee. Two years later, “As It Was” brought him back to the category, but Adele’s “Easy on Me” proved unbeatable.

Harry Styles May Move Into Second Place Among Men

With two Best Pop Solo Performance nominations, Styles is currently tied with Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran for the second-most nods in the field among men.

Bruno Mars competed with “Grenade” and “When I Was Your Man,” but lost both times. His breakout smash “Just the Way You Are” did win Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 2011, shortly before the Grammys eliminated the gendered categories and introduced the current field.

Sheeran has also been nominated twice, and his record is perfect. “Thinking Out Loud” won Best Pop Solo Performance in 2016, and two years later, “Shape of You” doubled his career total.

Justin Bieber Holds the All-Time Male Record

Justin Bieber remains the male artist with the most Best Pop Solo Performance nominations. The Canadian superstar has competed four times, though amazingly, he has yet to win. “Love Yourself” earned Bieber his first nomination in the category, followed years later by “Yummy,” “Anyone” and “Daisies” at the most recent show.

Bruno Mars Might Also Return to the Pop Race

Styles may not be the only man moving up the all-time ranking this year. Mars recently returned with The Romantic, his first solo album in almost a decade, and several of its singles could contend across pop and R&B categories.

“I Just Might” and “Risk It All” both became major hits on the charts. Mars could submit one for Best Pop Solo Performance while focusing on R&B fields with another – though they are both very poppy – giving the Recording Academy several different ways to recognize his comeback.

Mars has typically found greater Grammy success in R&B categories, but his history as one of pop radio’s most dependable hitmakers makes another nomination in the pop field entirely possible. Should both he and Styles find their way back to the category, they would remain tied — this time with three nominations apiece — behind Bieber.

Harry Styles Is Tied With Several Female Stars

Looking at all artists, Styles, Mars and Sheeran are currently matched with Sabrina Carpenter, Lizzo, Pink, Chappell Roan and Olivia Rodrigo, all of whom have received two Best Pop Solo Performance nominations. Several members of that group are eligible to return in 2027. Carpenter and Rodrigo appear especially likely to compete somewhere. Their potential inclusion could dramatically reshape the middle of the all-time ranking.

Some of the category’s most frequently nominated stars may also add to their totals. Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga all have eligible recordings out, and their hits will surely make this an exciting year for the Best Pop Solo Performance category.

Harry Styles Has Multiple Options When It Comes to the Grammys

Best Pop Solo Performance represents only one potential field where Styles may earn another Grammy nod. Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. could contend for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, while one of its singles may compete for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. “Aperture” or “American Girls” could be submitted for Best Dance Pop Recording or perhaps another dance/electronic prize instead of the traditional pop solo field.
