BJP’s Andhra Pradesh spokesperson Valluru Jayaprakash Narayana has alleged that certain political parties and organisations are exploiting the NEET paper leak issue to indulge in anti-national activities under the guise of student protests in New Delhi.

The NDA government remained fully committed to protecting students’ interests and was taking prompt corrective measures to address irregularities in the examination process, Mr. Narayana said while addressing the media here on Friday. The Union Government had taken a clear stand on the paper leak issue, he asserted.

Referring to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s statement, he said the Centre had expressed regret over the lapses and assured students that a re-examination would be conducted, if necessary. He maintained that no student would be allowed to suffer injustice.

Mr. Narayana said the Centre had introduced reforms to improve transparency in the examinations and was moving towards a computer-based testing system to minimise irregularities. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed strict action against everyone involved in the paper leak, irrespective of their position, and that fast-track courts had been set up to expedite the investigation.

Accusing the Opposition of politicising the issue, he alleged that despite being allowed to discuss the NEET issue in Parliament, it was more interested in political gain than student welfare.

While acknowledging the democratic right to peaceful protests, he alleged that some groups had attempted to provoke unrest through demonstrations and inflammatory statements. He also accused the Congress, the AAP, the Communist parties and other opposition groups of exploiting the issue for political purposes. BJP State media in-charge Kilari Dileep was present.
