According to Ukrinform, Yurii Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this during a television broadcast.

"The whole of Ukraine can now see what happened. There was a strike involving ballistic missiles – high-speed ballistic missiles – from the northern direction, and then they followed up with Oniks missiles targeting southern Ukraine. They failed to reach their targets there, but the attack took place nevertheless, and the threat remains," Ihnat said.

He noted that Russia has accumulated a certain stockpile of missiles and warned that citizens should remain especially vigilant in the coming days and respond immediately to air raid alerts.

Ihnat also pointed out that, unlike previous attacks, Russia launched today's ballistic missile strike at daytime rather than at night, apparently because a large public event was taking place in Ukraine.

"I believe law enforcement agencies and the relevant authorities will look into this issue. Public events have long been prohibited within the Armed Forces because large gatherings pose a security risk. Civilians should remember this as well. Ukraine is at war, and these safety requirements must be observed at all times – day or night. Any public events should be planned in accordance with security considerations," he said.

According to Ihnat, Russia launched three ballistic missiles, one of which was intercepted.

"We had two Oniks missiles [a medium-range supersonic anti-ship missile], and, as of now, three ballistic missiles. There were reports from various Telegram channels claiming there had been ten missiles, but at this point we have confirmed three. Air defenses managed to intercept one of them, but unfortunately the other two got through. Those two strikes were recorded in the Kyiv region," he said.

Speaking about Russia's overnight attack, Ihnat noted that in addition to the Shahed-type drones that Russia routinely uses, it has increasingly begun deploying jet-powered drones and attack drones equipped with control channels that allow operators to change the drones' direction and targets in real time.

As reported by Ukrinform, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko said that a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region preliminarily killed 10 people and injured around 100 others.
