Efftronics Systems Private Limited and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU-K) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a two-year industry-sponsored M.Tech programme in Internet of Things (IoT), aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry.

The MoU was signed by JNTU-K Registrar R. Srinivasa Rao and Efftronics Managing Director and CEO D. Rama Krishna in the presence of JNTU-K Vice-Chancellor C.S.R.K. Prasad in Vijayawada.

The programme will combine classroom teaching with practical training, internships, industry mentoring and thesis work at Efftronics. JNTU-K will admit an initial batch of 25 students, while Efftronics will set up dedicated IoT laboratories, support faculty training, sponsor research and collaborate with the university to establish a Centre of Excellence in IoT.

JNTU-K Vice-Chancellor Prasad said the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by promoting experiential learning and stronger academia-industry collaboration. He said the programme would equip students with industry-relevant skills, strengthen applied research and help the university keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies.

Meanwhile, Mr. Rama Krishna said industries face a growing shortage of skilled engineers, with companies spending years and significant resources to make graduates job-ready. Drawing on Efftronics’ four decades of experience in developing solutions for critical infrastructure, including railway signalling, he said the programme was designed to create industry-ready professionals and could serve as a model for similar collaborations across the country.

Students who successfully complete the programme will be considered for full-time positions at Efftronics with annual salaries of up to ₹10 lakh, based on performance. They will also receive a monthly stipend during their internship and thesis work.
