Splatoon Raiders launched yesterday, and players have already found a cool and weird Easter egg in the game’s opening loading screen. But don’t mess around with it too much, or you could just crash the game entirely.
When you boot up Splatoon Raiders, you’re given a view of a swirl of gray clouds from above while the game loads. If you’re playing in docked mode, you won’t notice anything unusual about this. But if you’re playing in handheld, you can touch the screen to swirl the clouds around a bit. It’s a fun, if seemingly pointless, little secret:
But apparently you can really mess up your game if you get a little too exuberant with the swirling. This person put their entire hand on the screen and…well, you can see the result:
The good news is, this isn’t really a big deal. It’s just the game’s start-up load screen, so you can very easily reload and hop back in, and it doesn’t seem to have done any serious damage to the game itself. The person who tried this said in a reply, “btw nothing bad happens tho.”
This does make me wonder if there are any other secret touchscreen interactions in Splatoon Raiders, which is a game where you wouldn’t expect to use the touch screen all that much. You should, however, absolutely be making use of Splatoon Raiders‘ excellent motion controls (either via controller or using the Switch 2 in handheld mode) to aim your guns. No, I don’t want to hear your excuses. Try it for a while and see. It’s the best way to play any of the Splatoons.
