Commonwealth Games live updates: Diamonds face early test against England, Cam McEvoy stars in 50m freestyle final
Welcome to day three of the Commonwealth Games, where there will be a big showdown on the netball court between England and Australia in the group stage.
In the pool, world record holder Cam McEvoy will hit the water for the 50m freestyle final and distance queen Lani Pallister will begin her 1,500m campaign.

Can the Aussies can secure another win in netball tonight?
Tonight will be the second time the Diamonds take the court for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, after defeating the Tongan Tala side on day two.
The Aussies will play England on day three, and we're expecting that match to be much closer than yesterday's end score of 99-38 (although I reckon the green and gold are strong enough to bag another win here!).
The English netballers defeated Northern Ireland last night, 83-34, and will be looking for another win — I'm sure the Roses haven't forgotten the 2022 Commonwealth Games semi-final, when the Diamonds claimed victory over England by 9 points.
Wales and Scotland are working their way through the second quarter of their match now, then the Aussies will return to The Hydro for their game.
If we win tonight, it'll be the seventh Commonwealth Games victory Australia holds over England — the Roses have only defeated us one on previous occasion.

Hello, good evening and welcome to ABC's live online coverage of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
It's been a pretty top-tier start to the Games from Australia, with 12 gold medals in the opening two days.
We can't guarantee we can match that output tonight, but the team will certainly give it a go!
My name is Andrew McGarry, and here with me on the Australian end of things are Gemma Ferguson and James Tugwell, not to mention our man in Glasgow, Jon Healy.
