The Diamonds are one of the most successful and beloved teams in Australian sport, but some fans back home trying to tune in to their Commonwealth Games campaign have been left disappointed.

The reigning netball gold medallists kicked off with dominant wins by a combined 80 goals on Saturday and Sunday, but neither match was carried live on any of Seven Network's linear television channels.

The 99-38 victory over Tonga and 66-47 win over England were only shown live on streaming service 7Plus, while Seven carried the swimming heats.

For Sunday's prime-time match against rivals and 2018 champions the Roses, Seven aired 2021 Ryan Reynolds film Free Guy on Mate, and crime drama Vera on TWO.

Seven's main channel broadcast made clear the Diamonds were live on Plus.

After the swimming finished and the Diamonds had won, the Australia-England game was aired on delay on Seven's main channel.

ABC Sport broke the news to a few of the Diamonds stars after their game.

"That's obviously disappointing, obviously we want to be on TV and have every fan able to watch. I wasn't aware of that," goalkeeper Courtney Bruce said.

"I don't know, hopefully we'll be able to be on the live games [at some point]. It is disappointing, we obviously want netball to be highlighted and want the rest of the sports here at the Commonwealth Games and for Australia to be highlighted too."

Games debutant Jamie-Lee Price said she hopes fans keep making their voices heard.

"I think maybe if we put lots of pressure on maybe we can get there," she said.

"I didn't realise that. We want to be on TV, we want eyes on our sport and if we can get that that's amazing. So, yes please."

The silver lining of the situation is the reminder of the support this team has in Australia and in Glasgow, where the Australians in the Hydro were challenging the English fans for sheer volume and passion.

"We definitely feel the support from home, obviously we're nothing without the supporters back in Australia," Bruce said.

"We definitely feel it today and there's quite a few out there. That was really nice to have them out there today."

A Channel Seven spokesperson responded to requests from the ABC, saying:
