South Island weekend crashes turn fatal
Separate crashes in Dunedin and Canterbury have become fatal, with the death of two people in hospital.
Police said one person has died following a crash in Dunedin on Sunday on SH1/Caversham Valley Road at about 1.15am.
One person was transported to hospital in critical condition and died there on Sunday night..
Another person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Templeton, Canterbury the weekend before.
Police said the crash on 19 July occurred on the corner of Kirk Road and West Coast Road and was reported at 4.40pm.
They said two people were injured, one critically. The critically injured person died of their injuries on Tuesday, 21 July.
Police said enquiries into the circumstances of both crashes were ongoing.
