Iran cannot allow the Strait of Hormuz to become a tool in the hands of “aggressors” seeking to harm its national security, foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said.

The spokesperson added that the United States had failed to meet its obligations to give Iran access to its frozen assets.

Mediators, including Pakistan and Qatar, were exchanging messages between the parties, the spokesperson said.
