Marcos opens SONA: I'm not president of my family
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. opened his fifth State of the Nation Address with an update on flood control cases first raised in his 2025 SONA.
Marcos said contractors, senior officials and lawmakers had already been charged and jailed.
He said it was painful but necessary to pursue accountability in the flood control scandal, even as cases move closer to former speaker Martin Romualdez, hisi first cousin.
“Hindi ako pangulo ng aking pamilya. Hindi ako pangulo ng aking kaibigan. Ako ang pangulo ng Pilipinas,” he said in Filipino.
He added that P25 billion in recovered, frozen and preserved assets had been returned to the treasury.
