Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue T.G. Mohandas from Kerala faced a barrage of criticism on Monday (July 27, 2026) after a recent video of him saying he “would have shot” the protestors at Jantar Mantar if he were in control, surfaced online. Mr. Mohandas, a former head of the Kerala unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s intellectual cell, made the comments in a video posted on his YouTube channel Pathrika on Sunday.

In a 30-minute video, Mr. Mohandan speaks at length about how he would have tackled the student protests by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and other major Opposition outfits against the NEET exam irregularities.

“I will impose a curfew in about a 4 square kilometre area around Jantar Mantar. Then I would announce thrice for the crowd to disperse. After that, I will shoot. People will scatter away and run for their lives. Some may die, some may suffer disabilities. Within four hours, the situation will be calm. Then I will collect the bodies and take them to hospitals,” he said.

In another video, he said secular women who take part in protests “enjoy being gangraped.”

“Gangrapes will happen. In this case, there won’t be any complaints as these are people who like being raped. There are women who like being raped, especially leftists, secular, democratic and proletarians. Now if someone dies during this, they will turn the person into a martyr,” he said.

Rajya Sabha MP A.A. Rahim, national president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), told The Hindu that Mr. Mohandas’s comments will be “dealt with politically and legally.”

“This is an opinion which exposes the BJP, because the BJP leaders are making Mr. Mohandas say things which they believe in but cannot say openly in a society like Kerala. Such things are being said with a clear aim to spread divisions in society. The Supreme Court has in the past issued clear warnings against such hate speech. I have already sent the video to advocates to take the necessary legal action,” said Mr. Rahim.

Mr. Mohandas’s video has drawn severe criticism on social media platforms. Several comments supportive of him can also be seen on his YouTube channel.
